Safety

Safeguarding is everyone’s job — and we take it as seriously as we take the music.

About

Why safety is non-negotiable

When people are struggling with mental health, they are often at their most vulnerable. They may share things they have never told anyone. They may reach out in moments of crisis. They may be at risk of harm — from themselves or from others.

That trust is sacred. We have a duty to protect people who engage with Lifted Life, and to ensure our spaces — on air, online and in person — are as safe as we can make them.

Our safeguarding standards

  • Clear policies. Our safeguarding policies meet UK standards for charities and broadcasting, reviewed and updated regularly.
  • DBS checks. Where appropriate, volunteers and staff undergo Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
  • Regular training. Everyone involved learns about boundaries, responding to disclosures, and signposting to professional help.

On air

  • We never promise what we can’t deliver. We are not an emergency service or a replacement for therapy.
  • We use careful language. We avoid words that glamorise or give instructions for self-harm or suicide.
  • We redirect people in crisis. Anyone at immediate risk is directed to 999, NHS services, Samaritans (116 123) or local crisis teams.

Online and in community

  • Moderated spaces. Chats, comments and community areas are monitored to protect people from abuse, bullying or exploitation.
  • Data protection. We store data securely and respect people’s privacy in how we share stories and testimonies.
If something doesn’t feel safe, we pause, review and adjust. Safety is a non-negotiable at Lifted Life.
