Safeguarding

Protecting the welfare of everyone we serve — because people in vulnerable moments deserve our highest standards of care.

About

Why safeguarding is central

People who engage with Lifted Life are often going through difficult times. They may be experiencing mental health struggles, family breakdown, financial crisis or grief. Some may be at risk of harm — from themselves or from others. Some may be children or adults with additional vulnerabilities.

When people reach out to us — through our radio, our online spaces or our community — they are trusting us to respond safely and appropriately. That trust is sacred, and safeguarding is how we honour it.

Our safeguarding framework

  • Clear policies. We maintain comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures that meet UK standards for charities and broadcasters, reviewed and updated regularly.
  • DBS checks. Where appropriate, volunteers and staff undergo Disclosure and Barring Service checks before working with vulnerable people.
  • Comprehensive training. Everyone involved in Lifted Life receives safeguarding training appropriate to their role — recognising signs of concern, responding appropriately and knowing when to escalate.
  • Designated lead. We have a designated safeguarding lead responsible for handling concerns, maintaining policies and liaising with external agencies when necessary.

Recognising and responding

Our team is trained to recognise signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation or self-harm — and to respond appropriately. This includes:

  • Listening without judgement and taking concerns seriously.
  • Not making promises we cannot keep about confidentiality.
  • Recording and reporting concerns through proper channels.
  • Knowing when and how to escalate to appropriate authorities.

Crisis and emergency situations

Lifted Life is not a crisis service. We cannot provide emergency intervention or professional therapy. However, we ensure that anyone in immediate danger is directed to appropriate support:

Emergency services: 999

Samaritans: 116 123 (24/7, free from any phone)

NHS urgent mental health: 111 (option 2)

Childline: 0800 1111

Online safety

Our digital spaces — including chat, comments and live interactions — are actively moderated to protect users from harassment, abuse, grooming or exploitation. We take online safety as seriously as physical safety, with clear community guidelines and swift action against those who violate them.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. If you have concerns about yourself or someone else, please contact us at info@liftedlife.co.uk or reach out to appropriate authorities directly.
